Applications are invited from outstanding postdoctoral researchers for the position of Research Assistant Professor in the Division of Humanities at The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology.

We seek to appoint a Research Assistant Professor to build research capacity in philosophy of science. We particularly encourage applicants who work in integrated history and philosophy of science. Expertise in philosophy of biology and/or philosophy of social science would be an advantage.

Applicants should have a commitment to research and teaching excellence. They should have a PhD, a strong publication record, and a developing trajectory as Principal or Co-Investigator on funded projects.

The appointee will be expected to publish strongly, write grant proposals, manage graduate students and/or Post-doctoral Fellows, organize workshops and seminars, and develop international collaborations. The appointee will teach one undergraduate course in Humanities for general education and/or one postgraduate course on the MPhil in Humanities program offered by the School of Humanities and Social Science. English is the medium of instruction and administration at the University.

Salary is highly competitive, commensurate with qualifications and experience. Appointment will be made on a fixed-term 2-year contract, renewable subject to performance, funding availability and mutual agreement. A gratuity will be payable upon successful completion of contract. Fringe benefits include annual leave, medical and dental benefits. Housing allowance may be provided where applicable.
