Logic and Scientific Method and Forum for European Philosophy

Salary: £31,711 to £38,391 per annum inclusive (pay award pending)
You will work half-time for the Department of Philosophy, Logic and Scientific Method and half-time for the Forum for European Philosophy, assisting the Director.
In the former role, you will teach and conduct research in the Department. In the latter role, you will be responsible for promoting the Forum's vision of philosophy as a meeting place for different disciplines, through the organisation of public events and the initiation and pursuit of interdisciplinary research projects.
You should have a PhD by the time of appointment and a record of excellence in teaching and research in philosophy, as well as an aptitude for event organisation. We are particularly interested in candidates with research interests in philosophy of psychology, biology, social sciences and/or cognitive sciences.

Call for Applications
The Edmond J. Safra Foundation Center for Ethics invites applications for its newly launched five-year project, the Lab on “Institutional Corruption” — roughly defined as legal, even currently ethical acts which tend either to weaken the effectiveness of an institution, or that weaken public trust of the institution. The aim of the Lab is to study institutional corruption with both an empirical and normative focus. The empirical research will explore whether and when institutional corruption exists. The normative project will develop tools to address institutional corruption when it is found to exist. Some of the work will be done by the Lab; some of it has already been done and simply needs better translation across institutional fields; and some we hope to inspire by providing a better framework into which the work might fit. The ultimate objective of the Lab is to produce a set of tools that institutions might use both to understand the problem of “institutional corruption,” and to respond to it.
The project invites applications from all disciplines, and is especially eager to develop multidisciplinary approaches that might integrate the work of different fields directed at a common problem.
The core of the Lab will be made up of Research Fellows, who will be in residence at Harvard. Research Fellows in residence will be expected to devote the majority of their time to the research project, and participate in a weekly seminar designing the work of the Lab, and evaluating its progress.
A broad range of researchers are invited to submit proposals to the Lab, either to become residential Research Fellows, or to propose joint or collaborative research projects. Tenured and untenured faculty are invited to participate, so long as their work during the fellowship is primarily directed towards the project of the Lab. Alternatively, faculty members are invited to propose projects that they would direct but that would be executed at the Lab. Postdoctoral applications are eagerly encouraged, as well as proposals from researchers in industry or government seeking sabbatical time to pursue research directly relevant to the project. Researchers need not be located at Harvard.

Salary: £36,532 - £44,930 pa
We welcome applications from candidates working in any area of philosophy, including the history of philosophy. You will have or be about to complete a PhD in a relevant area and be able to provide evidence of outstanding research potential. The role includes teaching, supervision and examining on undergraduate and postgraduate degree programmes, and candidates must demonstrate a commitment to excellence in teaching. The role also includes undertaking administrative duties as assigned by the Head of Department and/or School.

Publications scientifiques pertinentes.

ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR – DEPARTMENT OF PHILOSOPHY – POST NO 1701
Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates for one position of Associate Professor in the Department of Philosophy. This position will be permanent and pensionable for Lesotho nationals but full time on contract for a period of two years with a possibility of renewal for non-locals.
REQUIREMENTS
• PhD degree in Philosophy;
• At least 5 years’ post-PhD experience in an academic or research environment;
• Successful supervision of postgraduate (Masters and PhD) students;
• Evidence of mentorship of junior staff ;
• Sustained record of research demonstrated by publications in accredited peer-reviewed journals;
• Demonstrated ability to attract research funding would be an added advantage;
• Teaching experience especially at the university level is essential;
• Preference would be given to candidates who could also teach courses in Applied Philosophy sector;.
• He/she must have attained the rank of Associated Professor before submitting his/her application.
The successful candidate will be expected to resume duty in January, 2010.
DUTIES
The successful candidate will undertake teaching at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels in applied and core areas of Philosophy; supervise undergraduate and postgraduate students’ research projects; initiate and/or participate in research and seminar programmes in the department; and perform other duties including administrative, as would be required of him/her by the department from time to time.
