The Department of Philosophy and the Anne Tanenbaum Centre for Jewish Studies in the Faculty of Arts and Science of the University of Toronto invite applications for a tenure-stream position at the rank of Assistant Professor. The successful candidate will be expected to pursue innovative, independent, and competitive research at the highest international level in the area of Jewish Philosophy and be familiar with the Jewish textual canon.
The successful candidate will teach courses in the Department of Philosophy from the introductory to advanced levels, at both the undergraduate and graduate levels, and will contribute to the integration of Jewish philosophy into the undergraduate and graduate programs in Jewish Studies. The successful candidate must provide evidence of excellence in teaching as demonstrated through teaching accomplishments, the statement of teaching philosophy, teaching evaluations, and the teaching dossier submitted as part of the application, as well as strong letters of reference.

We are recruiting three lecturers with expertise in any area of philosophy, although special consideration will be given to candidates whose research interests complement those of the Department, including culture, consciousness, mind, ethics, the arts, science and technology. • publish their research in well-regarded peer-reviewed international publications

• a PhD in a related area of philosophy
• experience as a skilled philosophy teacher at the tertiary level
• demonstrated research expertise in Epistemology, Metaphysics and Logic through high quality publications
• evidence of high quality teaching capacity at undergraduate or postgraduate level in both large and small units
• capacity to supervise honours, masters and PhD students
• capacity to contribute to course and program development
• capacity to teach in a range of areas including Epistemology, Metaphysics and Logic
• an active research program with significant potential for future publication
• evidence of successful teamwork and a collegial approach

The School of Philosophical and Historical Inquiry (SOPHI) is one of five schools in the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences, made up of the departments of Archaeology, Classics and Ancient History, Gender and Cultural Studies, History, and Philosophy.
