Tâches
• Un enseignement hebdomadaire de 2 heures durant 1 semestre par année académique

• Recherche personnelle en vue d'une habilitation
• Participation active aux colloques et aux autres activités de recherches au sein de la chaire et du département.

En cas d’engagement, une activité de recherche supplémentaire dans le cadre d’un projet de recherche à soumettre au FN peut être envisagée. Le succès d’une telle démarche dépend de la décision du FN et ne peut donc pas être garanti.

The Department of Philosophy at the University of Toronto Scarborough (UTSC) invites applications for two tenure-track positions at the rank of Assistant Professor, to begin July 1, 2012.

The Department of Philosophy, in the Faculty of Arts at the University of Alberta, has been authorized to search for a Tier I (Senior) Canada Research Chair in Epistemology and Metaphysics, broadly construed to include philosophy of mind, philosophy of language, and philosophy of science (natural, cognitive, life, mathematical) as well. We invite applications from exceptional scholars with a strong record of research and teaching in any of these areas, whatever their theoretical or methodological commitments. Other areas of research and teaching specialization or competence are open. A PhD in Philosophy, or equivalent, is required.
The successful applicant will be nominated by the University for a Canada Research Chair and will also be appointed as a regular senior faculty member. The Canada Research Chairs Programme was established by the Canadian Government to foster world-class research excellence. As stated in the Terms of Reference http://www.chairs-chaires.gc.ca/, “Tier I Chairs, tenable for seven years and renewable are for outstanding researchers acknowledged by their peers as world leaders” in their fields. Nominations for Canada Research Chairs are subject to review by the CRC Secretariat, and appointment as a Canada Research Chair is conditional upon their approval.
Responsibilities will include undergraduate and graduate teaching, graduate supervision and normal administrative committee work, as well as maintaining an original and innovative research programme. However, the teaching load for a Canada Research Chair will be two one-term courses per year instead of the four one-term courses per year for regular faculty. The appointment will be with tenure, at the level of either full Professor or senior Associate Professor.
Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience, and, in the case of Canada Research Chairs, carries a supplement that may be taken as taxable salary or tax free research grant or a combination thereof. The benefit package is comprehensive.

For 2012-2013, The McCoy Family Center for Ethics in Society seeks up to four new postdoctoral fellows. We welcome candidates with substantial normative research interests from diverse backgrounds including philosophy, the social sciences, and professional schools. We are especially interested in candidates with research interests in inequality, human rights, immigration, and environmental justice, but we welcome all applicants with strong normative interests that have some practical implications. Fellows will teach one class, participate in a Political Theory Workshop, interact with undergraduates in the Ethics in Society Honors Program and help in developing an inter-disciplinary ethics community across the campus.

The appointment term is September 1, 2012 - August 31, 2013; however, the initial term may be renewed for an additional year. Ethics, Environmental Ethics. Department has teaching needs for critical
thinking, medical ethics, professional/business ethics, international
ethics, human rights theory, citizenship theory, ethics in corporate
governance. The department does not have needs in history of philosophy,
philosophy of mind, philosophy of language, social/political philosophy or
Islamic philosophy at this time.

UAEU seeks faculty research in the area of ethics and cognitive science. The
department participates in interdisciplinary cognitive science research with
faculty in linguistics and robotics. UAEU is also developing
interdisciplinary research capacity in environmental studies, with focus on
water use. Thus, those with research interest in cognitive moral studies,
cognitive science, or environmental ethics/policy will be preferred.

Candidate must have PH.D in hand by January 2012, with preference for those
with full-time teaching experience and publication in AOS. The language of
instruction is English. Official teaching load is currently 4/4, with
possible reduction for outstanding candidates or via grants. Most faculty
are on a 3/3 load.

UAEU is located in the desert oasis city of Al Ain (population c. 600,000).
