JOB DESCRIPTION
The Centre for Logic and Analytic Philosophy at KU Leuven invites applications for one full-time position at either doctoral or postdoctoral level as part of a research project on
KNOWLEDGE FIRST VIRTUE EPISTEMOLOGY
which is funded by a KU Leuven OT and an FWO grant (PI: Christoph Kelp) and will run until 2017/18.
DURATION: 3 years (PhD) or 2 years (Postdoc)
STARTING DATE: no later than October 1, 2015.

At present, two postdoctoral researchers and one PhD student are working on the project. Additional hires at doctoral and postdoctoral level are expected.
The members of the research group will work closely together and are expected to actively contribute to the project and to activities at Leuven Epistemology Group and the Centre for Logic and Analytic Philosophy.

The Centre for Logic and Analytic Philosophy (CLAW) is one of five research units in philosophy at KU Leuven. zu besetzen. Die Theologische Fakultät bietet verschiedene anerkannte Ausbildungsgänge im theologischen Bereich an und engagiert sich in der interdisziplinären und fakultätsübergreifenden Zusammenarbeit.
Die ausgeschriebene Professur ist der Theologischen Fakultät zugeordnet. Der Schwerpunkt dieser Professur liegt im systematisch-theoretischen und im historischen Bereich (insbesondere Erkenntnislehre, Metaphysik, Religionsphilosophie). In der Lehre soll der/die Bewerber/-in interfakultär im Fach Philosophie der Kultur- und Sozialwissenschaftlichen Fakultät mitwirken. Eine Mitarbeit im Fernstudium Theologie wird erwartet, wobei ein Lehrangebot in englischer Sprache zu einem späteren Zeitpunkt geplant ist.
Bewerber/innen sollen in den genannten Gebieten durch herausragende wissenschaftliche Qualitäten und pädagogische Eignung ausgewiesen sein. Promotion und Habilitation in Philosophie oder eine der Habilitation gleichwertige Qualifikation werden vorausgesetzt. Wünschenswert ist zudem ein qualifizierter Abschluss in Katholischer Theologie.

The University of Cologne (Germany) offers a doctoral scholarship in the philosophy of cognitive science. The candidate is expected to develop a dissertation within the project “Causal Relations in Neuroscientific Explanations” led by Dr Vera Hoffmann-Kolss (Cologne). The Centre for Metaphysics and the Philosophy of Culture of KU Leuven's Institute of Philosophy and the Faculty of Architecture of KU Leuven welcomes applicants for one fully-funded two-year PhD-Fellowship, renewable for a second period of two years, in Philosophy of Art on Architectural Theory. The PhD-fellow will work in the research context of the Centre for Metaphysics and the Philosophy of Culture (KU Leuven's Institute of Philosophy) and the research group Architectural Cultures of the Recent Past (KU Leuven's Faculty of Architecture).
The project for which the funding is available aims to develop an analysis of the connection between religious and philosophical concepts and the theoretical discourse on architectural modernism from the period 1945-1970. The project situates itself on the crossroads between intellectual/art history, philosophy and theology. It has both a historiographical and a conceptual aim. The fellowship is part of the project Apocryphal and Apostolic Modernism. Forgotten Connections between religion and architectural modernism, 1945-1970, funded by the Research Fund KU Leuven. The successful applicant will write a PhD-dissertation within the overarching theme of aesthetics and architectural theory. The project is chaired by Prof. Stéphane Symons and by Prof. Rajesh Heynickx.
Start date: 1 February 2015 or as soon as possible.
We are looking for a candidate with the following qualifications:
• The motivation to pursue creative work in aesthetics and architectural theory;
• An explicit interest in the following research questions; In what way has religious thinking, mostly of Catholic origin, influenced the theoretical discourse on architectural modernism? and In what way did non-religious, philosophical and aesthetic concepts influence the theoretical discourse on religious architecture?
• An MA (or equivalent) in Philosophy, Art History, Intellectual History, Cultural History, Architecture or Theology and academic distinction;
• The ability to present research results at conferences, and to publish in peer-reviewed journals.
• The ability to play an active role in the research group (including its seminars);
• An excellent command of English; proficiency in French and/or German; a willingness to learn Dutch is a plus;
